My favorite color is Vintage

So my awesome friend Mallory or as pilot likes to call her "Mallorina" and I went to Goodwill yesterday to pick up this amazing danish style coffee table that looked a lot like this, but it was already sold. :( So instead I looked for stuff for my upcoming cake party (Saturday). I wanted to find some sturdy candle stick holders and some cool plates to make cake stands. No good plates but I found nice pink candlestick holder and a purple glass vase. (you will see them when i post pics of the party). After leaving there pretty much empty handed we decided to walk across the street to a rummage. I was so happy we did because I found this awesome retro end table for $5! I love it. I put one of my handmade cake stands on top so you can see what I plan on doing. The base is a wooden candlestick holder that I found at a rummage for .50 and the top is a plate I found for $2 at BigLots. I love it. Better than one you can buy at the store in my opinion.
Also at the rummage I found some amazing high waist pleated shorts a lot like these for a dollar. If I can find the right top to go with, I will be wearing them on Saturday so you all can see! Hope you all have a good week and stop back soon to see what new!!

Been Loving on embroidered lovelies and I find a lot of flowers but I think by far my favorite vintage embroideries are the more funky ones. Like these I found on etsy.

Endagered species: Boys room

I do realize that I am a day late for endangered species, but it's well worth it. I found these vintage car prints at Goodwill (last week?) I thought they would look great in the boys room and of course I was right.
The frames were an almost bronzey color and had black on the inside. Blagh. So I painted them blue with a dark mustard yellow edge. And in Dave's words... "Now they're cool".

And they fit in perfectly with their vintage wino/bum lamp.
I have a lot of plans for the rest of this year to focus on the boys room and the living room. Those are always my favorite rooms of a house. I will keep the home makeover pics coming.
Have a happy Friday Ya'll!

thrifty thursday+ name change.

As you can see I changed the title of thrifty thursdays to endangered species. It just fits perfectly with The Giant Octopus (which is an endangered species) and vintage finds (which also may be endangered). So there you have it. Now what kind of endangered species did i find this week?
First these birds! Awesome. But the on with two had a bird broken off that I had to glue back on but it still cost 4.99. I wasn't happy about that. And the one bird cost 3.99.I can't decide if I got ripped off or not but I am starting to learn that Goodwill definitely isn't the best place to thrift.
Second I found this spectacular baby quilt?? I'm not quite sure what it is actually but from what I saw online it looks like a baby quilt and I'm also not sure if it's vintage or not. In either case, i lovvee it.
I thought it would make an awesome cushion tied to a bench, so I might just have to do that, when I get a bench.
And just take a look at that print. gorgeous.Very happy about this find for 2.99.
One last thing that I thought was post worthy was this awesome vintage pot. Looks great on my pink stove top. This was 2.99.
Oh, that was fun. I have learned that I love thrifting more than sewing. I have also learned that Dave is NOT the person to do it with. He doesn't spot treasure like I do. (though I know he has the ability) It's the whole "shopping" thing that he doesn't do too well with.
Happy Thrifting!

Yesterday I went to Goodwill with my mom and had some awesome finds that I am very excited about. I have been very inspired to redecorate my home. And I found some things that I thought would fit perfectly in with my vision.
First was this little lady find for only .99
Then my mom really hit the spot when she brought these over to me. Dave thinks that they are creepy but I disagree. I think they are wonderful and a half. Each were 1.99. Haven't decided if I want to fix the little curl on the corner of the boy's drawing.
When I finally made my way over to the framed area I saw this embroidery. The colors are awesome and the little birdie makes me smile! This I believe was .99 also.
And one the first things I picked up (while trying to drag Pilot away from all the broken toys) was this adorable boat that I would be great for when I get to redecorating the boys room. I heart the heart.
This I thought was a little overpriced as the back wheel is broken off. It was 4.99
So my goal is to convince Dave to take me to some smaller thrift stores in some smaller towns. They hide all the real goodies there! And maybe by summer my home will start shining with it's true potential and reflecting my personality because right now... It sucks!
